Domain Purchase Planning: Expert Consultation for Smart Acquisitions

Before the Call

If you have a domain already picked out that you would like to acquire, it is extremely helpful to share that name before the call. This allows us to do preliminary research and a basic appraisal on the domain.

During the Call

When we speak for the first time, I like to understand who I’m working with. I’ll ask basic questions about your plans for the business (budget, timing, size, etc.). Requesting an NDA is completely reasonable. In a nutshell, here’s what I want to know:

1. The domain name ahead of time. I can estimate fair market value, research the owner, and review how the domain is currently being used.


2. Your proposed budget. I’ll provide a professional opinion on whether it aligns with fair market value—or if we’re chasing an unrealistic outcome. Once aligned, an agreement will be sent and, when executed, work begins.


3. Your timeline. When do you need the domain? Coming in hard and fast can signal desperation to a seller and drive up the price—we’ll test the waters strategically.
4. 
   Any prior contact with the owner. If you’ve already reached out, please forward what was said, what was offered, and the response received. Missing these details can push us toward the wrong approach—the more we know, the better we can serve you.

After the Call

Once the discussion is completed, a signed agreement will be sent, and the work will commence.
